The two competitions were held simultaneously at the MBJB Aquatic Centre in Johor Bahru city, Malaysia, attracting 137 athletes from four countries: Viet Nam, Malaysia, Indonesia and Cambodia. The Quang Ninh swimming and finswimming delegation, participating as part of the national team, comprised one coach and two athletes from the Quang Ninh Intermediate School of Arts and Sports.
Trieu Thi Uyen secured two gold and four silver medals. Her two gold medals came in the 16-17 age-group 4x100m surface finswimming relay and 4x100m mixed medley relay events. Hoang Ha Binh Minh claimed one gold and five silver medals, including gold in the girls’ 14-15 age-group 4x100m surface finswimming relay.
The achievements of the two Quang Ninh athletes contributed to Viet Nam’s first-place finish in the overall team standings.
