During the National Day holiday, import-export and immigration activities remained busy at Mong Cai International Border Gate. Trade flows continued smoothly, highlighting the growing appeal of one of the important gateways for trade between Vietnam and China.
According to data from Mong Cai International Border Gate Customs under Regional Customs Sub-Department VIII, since the beginning of 2026, the unit has processed procedures for 2,013 businesses involving 190,952 customs declarations, with total import-export turnover reaching USD 11.324 billion. At Mong Cai International Border Gate alone, 71,815 declarations were processed, with turnover reaching USD 4.005 billion.
Not only goods but also flows of people and vehicles through the border-gate area have increased sharply. Since the beginning of the year, cross-border transport vehicle movements have totalled 185,145, up 5% year on year. Passenger crossings have exceeded 5.06 million, up 27%, including more than 1.51 million tourist arrivals, up 32%, and over 3.54 million border resident crossings, up 24%.
The bustling trade activity has also generated significant revenue for the State budget. Revenue from import-export activities reached nearly VND 2.756 trillion, up 68% from the same period in 2025.
These figures further reflect the vitality of the Mong Cai border-gate area, where goods, vehicles, businesses, tourists and border residents are continuously connected, creating an increasingly vibrant flow of cross-border trade.
Even during the National Day holiday, trade flows showed no sign of slowing down. Immigration activity through Bac Luan II Bridge alone remained high, with nearly 20,000 passenger crossings each day. At processing areas, officers, soldiers and civil servants from functional forces maintained full staffing, proactively providing guidance, directing flows, conducting inspections and supervision, and ensuring the rapid and safe movement of people and vehicles.
Within Quang Ninh’s new development space, the role of the Mong Cai area is being considered from a broader perspective. Together with key areas such as Ha Long, Quang Yen, Van Don and other growth poles, Mong Cai is expected to make greater use of its advantages as an international gateway, strengthen links with economic centres in Vietnam and the region, and expand trade, logistics and cross-border services.
