With positive growth momentum, alongside proactive efforts to expand markets, diversify products and strengthen support for businesses, Quang Ninh is focusing on removing bottlenecks, enhancing logistics capacity and boosting import-export activities to create fresh momentum for economic growth in the final months of the year.
In the first nine months of 2026, import-export activities in Quang Ninh continued to grow steadily. The export turnover of Quang Ninh-based enterprises was estimated at more than US$3.5 billion, up 17.2% year on year, while import turnover exceeded US$3.9 billion, up 18.5%. In the city’s export structure, the FDI sector continued to play a leading role, with export turnover exceeding US$3.4 billion, accounting for 82.13% of the total and up 24.2%.
Domestic enterprises recorded US$759.57 million in exports, accounting for 17.87% of the total and up 27.7%. Notably, export markets also saw positive changes as businesses gradually expanded their network of partners. Exports to China, for example, exceeded US$1.1 billion, accounting for 27.29% of the total and up 34.1%, while exports to the United States surpassed US$1 billion, accounting for 24.16%...
Quang Ninh is home to two key border-gate economic zones, namely the Mong Cai Border Gate Economic Zone and the Hoanh Mo - Dong Van Border Gate Economic Zone, which are linked to a system of border gates, border openings and goods clearance points. Alongside infrastructure, keeping up to date with market information, trade policies and regulations on rules of origin has become increasingly important for businesses, particularly as export markets continue to adjust their standards, technical regulations and requirements concerning product origin.
To support businesses, the Department of Industry and Trade has organised a range of conferences, training programmes and guidance sessions on import-export procedures, market regulations and issues related to rules of origin. In August 2026, the department, in coordination with the Office of the Steering Committee for International Economic Integration under the Ministry of Industry and Trade, held a training conference on certificates of origin (C/O) and provided information on new regulations in export markets to around 100 import-export enterprises in the city.
To create additional export capacity in the final months of the year, Quang Ninh is focusing on tapping the potential of new projects and products that have recently entered international markets, including INDEVCO’s joss-paper burning furnaces exported to Taiwan; audio speaker sets produced by Bumjin Electronic Vina, PVC flooring panels made by Lioncore, and smoke alarms manufactured by Intelligent Safety exported to the United States; and floor tiles produced by Viglacera Ha Long exported to Tanzania. The total export value of these new products is expected to reach nearly US$1.5 billion in the final months of the year. This is expected to provide an important source of export growth, helping offset declines in some product groups.
At the same time, the city is continuing to focus on developing border-gate infrastructure, warehouses and logistics facilities; improving customs clearance capacity at border gates; and accelerating administrative reform and digital transformation in import-export management. These efforts will help improve coordination, reduce costs, shorten customs clearance times, enhance business competitiveness and lay a foundation for stable and sustainable growth in import-export activities.
