Since the beginning of the year, Quang Ninh has organised seven city and national level cultural and arts events and activities, 14 national and international sports events, and 29 city-level sports events. Highlights include the 2026 Quang Ninh Culture, Sports and Tourism Week to welcome the summer, Ha Long Carnaval 2026, and activities to strengthen cooperation and expand tourist source markets in Russia, the CIS, Australia, India, China and Southeast Asia. Businesses and localities have also actively developed dozens of new tourism products. In the first eight months of 2026, the city welcomed more than 17 million tourist arrivals, up 6% year on year, while tourism revenue reached VND 51.008 trillion, up 23% from the same period in 2025.

To achieve its 2026 tourism targets of 23 million tourist arrivals and more than VND 70 trillion in total tourism revenue, Quang Ninh needs to welcome more than 4 million additional tourist arrivals and generate over VND 13 trillion in revenue from now until the end of the year. Chairman of the Quang Ninh Tourism Association Nguyen The Hue said these targets are entirely achievable and could be exceeded. In the fourth quarter, Quang Ninh will host a series of major events, including the Ha Long Bay Heritage Marathon 2026, Quang Ninh Food Festival 2026, Yen Tu Autumn Festival, Binh Lieu Then Festival, the Quang Ninh - Guangxi cultural, arts and tourism event, the Quang Ninh Autumn Regional Specialities Exhibition 2026 and the Quang Ninh Green Tourism Forum. In addition, the period from September onwards marks the start of the cruise tourism season, one of Quang Ninh’s tourism strengths.

When tourism events are organised on a stable schedule and cruise ship calls are concentrated in the final months of the year, travel businesses can develop tours well in advance, while accommodation and service providers can proactively prepare suitable tourism products. This creates favourable conditions to extend the autumn-winter tourism season, distribute visitor flows more evenly making more effective exploitation of international tourist market, and increase both length of stay and tourism revenue.

With these results, Quang Ninh is confident in continuing to affirm its role as a tourism centre of northern Vietnam, taking the lead in renewing the development model and improving destination quality. This will contribute to the goal of making Vietnam tourism an attractive, safe and civilised destination, while making a positive contribution to the growth of the young Quang Ninh city.
