Workshop on “ Vietnam Coal and Mineral industry in the role of ensuring national energy security"

On May 19, in Ha Long city, Vinacomin has organized a workshop on “Vietnam Coal and Mineral industry in the role of ensuring national energy security”. The workshop was attended by Mr. Nguyen Van Giau, member of the Central Party Committee, Head of the National Assembly’s Economic Committee,  representatives from central and provincial leaders, departments, and economists.

At the workshop, the leader of Vinacomin has made a report on the current situation and construction process as well as development orientations and strategies of Coal industry in the upcoming time. The report also indicates difficulties that need to be supported by the National Assembly and the Government to recover so that coal industry could be develop in a stable and sustainable way.

During the discussions, the participants have raised their opinions focusing on some important issues, namely: the way in which Vinacomin should be restructured; the orientation to develop Vinacomin by the year of 2020 and in vision of 2030; coal price for power plants in accordance with market mechanisms; coal export-import, etc.

Speaking at the workshop, Mr. Ngyen Van Giau directed the Vinacomin to follow up the contents included in the Central’s Resolution III of the 11th National Assembly on sector restructuring ,as well as closely sticking on the Government’s project on restructuring State-owned enterprises. The leaders of the National Assembly’s Economic Committee have received and synthesized all participants’ opinions to report to the National Assembly and functional authorities for responding to all questions and recommendations raised by Vinacomin.
