White grass hills attract visitors to Binh Lieu and Hoanh Mo

From October to December, the hills of Binh Lieu and Hoanh Mo turn white as reed grass blooms across the mountains. The scenery has become one of the main attractions of Quang Ninh's fall and winter tourism season.

The best time to see the white grass is usually from late October to mid-November, when the flowers cover hillsides and stretch along the winding border patrol roads.

One of the most popular destinations is the "Dinosaur's Backbone," a narrow mountain ridge leading to Border Marker 1305. Visitors can climb nearly 2,000 steps to enjoy panoramic views of the mountains and valleys.

Border Marker 1297 is another popular stop, known for its wide fields of white reed grass and scenic views of the border region.

Beyond the grass-covered hills, visitors can explore golden terraced rice fields, particularly around Khe O, Cao Thang and Ngan Pat villages. The harvest season adds another beautiful color to the mountain landscape.

Outdoor activities such as hiking, camping and cloud watching are also attracting nature lovers.

Visitors can also discover the traditions of local ethnic communities, including the Tay, Dao and San Chi, through traditional food, local markets and community-based tourism experiences.

With its natural beauty, cultural heritage and growing range of outdoor activities, Binh Lieu and Hoanh Mo are offering visitors a different side of Quang Ninh, beyond its famous coastal destinations.

These experiences are helping attract more tourists to the city's eastern mountain region during the fall and winter season.
