Investments and economic ties between the US and Quang Ninh Province are being strengthened after a three-day visit to the province led by US Ambassador to Viet Nam, Mr. David Shear.
He visited the US Government-funded HIV treatment programs at the Quang Ninh provincial general hospital, met with important US companies investing in the Cai Lan Port and Mong Duong 2 power plant projects as well.
"US companies and investors are making important contributions to Quang Ninh’s economic development, particularly in the port, power and mining sectors. Quang Ninh’s leaders have proposed innovative economic development plans for the province, and I am confident that if Quang Ninh implements further reforms, it will be a destination for high-quality US investment and companies for years to come”, said Mr Ambassador Shear.
During his visit, Ambassador Shear met with Quang Ninh Party Secretary Pham Minh Chinh, Quang Ninh People’s Committee Vice Chairman Nguyen Van Thanh and other provincial officials.
He also visited the Cao Son coal mine and met with Vinacomin Chairman Tran Xuan Hoa to highlight how American equipment suppliers and investors could help Viet Nam meet its coal production targets safely and efficiently.
Besides, the US side has reaffirmed its support to Viet Nam’s objective to establish sustainable models of service delivery, including integrating HIV/AIDS services into Viet Nam’s existing health system.
