On September 25, the coastal neighborhood of Phu Hai in Quang Ha commune formally opened the 2026 Tran Hung Dao Temple Festival.
Originally named Tran Linh Dien and built in 1952, Tran Hung Dao Temple received provincial cultural heritage recognition in 2002. The annual festival features both solemn rituals and joyful community celebrations, faithfully preserving time-honored Vietnamese cultural traditions passed down through generations.
The ceremonial program includes a traditional water procession, the opening ceremony, spiritual invocations, a sacred procession welcoming the village tutelary deity from My Son Communal House to the temple, incense offerings, and a farewell ritual for the spirits.
Meanwhile, the festivities invite locals and visitors from near and far to immerse themselves in a rich array of folk games and traditional sports, including tug-of-war, net weaving, stick pushing, wrestling, duck catching, soft volleyball, clam splitting, and razor clam digging competitions.
Held annually on the twentieth day of the eighth lunar month to commemorate the death anniversary of Supreme Commander Tran Quoc Tuan, the festival embodies the vibrant coastal culture of Quang Ha. It draws thousands of pilgrims and travelers seeking to offer incense, pray for favorable weather, bountiful harvests, prosperity, and good fortune.
Serving as a revered spiritual sanctuary, the temple honors the monumental contributions of national heroes who defended and built the nation.
The 2026 festival runs through September 30.
