Temporary pontoon bridge through Ka Long river project kicks start

A groung-breaking ceremony was held on Jan. 19 in Mong Cai city to kick start the project on building the Temporary pontoon bridge through Ka Long river. It was attended by Quang Ninh's Vice Chairman Vu Van Dien; Quang Ninh People's Council's Vice Standing Chairman Nguyen Xuan Ky, as well as other leaders of provincial relevant departments and representatives of Dongxing City's enterprises.

The ground-breaking ceremony

Invested with total capital of nearly VND 160,000 bln by the Manh Tung Construction Ltd. Co, this is the first bridge built in order to connect Mong Cai city (Vietnam) with Dongxing city (China). The bridge will be 114 m long and 12 m wide, with two lanes and a capacity of 60 tons of goods.

Once completed, it will reduces cost of commodities transport and overloading through the border river between the two localities. It is also expected to limit bad impacts of the weather to the transporting of goods. Besides, the bridge will help enhance the capacity of competition between Mong Cai-Dongxing border gate and other pairs of border gates through the Vietnam-China border, contributing to promote the socio-economic development of both sides.

During the project implementation, the Mong Cai and Dongxing's authorities will tightly collaborate with each other in exchanging information of the project and agree with relevant issues so as to ensure the quality and progress of the project, in accordance to to current law of the two countries of Vietnam and China.
