The vibrancy of Quang Ninh tourism is expanding into the autumn-winter months with a diverse and attractive series of cultural festivals, sports, culinary and arts activities. The tourism sector, localities and businesses across the city have flexibly and proactively renewed tourism products and experience programmes to encourage visitors to stay longer and spend more at destinations. These efforts are creating further momentum for the tourism market in the final months of the year and reinforcing the message “Quang Ninh Tourism - Safe, Friendly, Attractive, Professional”.
Extending the series of tourism stimulus events
Alongside organising events, Quang Ninh is strengthening connections with tourism markets through famtrip and presstrip programmes. As part of the National Travel Conference and National Tourism Promotion Conference held in Quang Ninh in late September, more than 100 major travel businesses, media organisations and partners joined surveys and experienced products such as the “Searching for the Hidden Gem” live-action show at Ngoc Rong Cave in Cam Pha ward, three-panel sailing boats on Ha Long Bay and Quang Ninh Museum. These activities gave participants a stronger basis for assessing products, developing tours, connecting destinations and designing itineraries suited to different visitor groups.
The autumn-winter tourism stimulus campaign will continue in the final months of the year with a diverse series of cultural, arts, sports and culinary events. Highlights include the Quang Ninh - Guangxi cultural, arts, tourism and culinary exchange programme; Quang Ninh Food Festival 2026; a series of distinctive arts programmes and concerts; the Ha Long Bay Heritage Marathon and Global Gate Halong ESG ++ Marathon 2026; Yen Tu Autumn Festival; Binh Lieu Then Festival; and the Quang Ninh Autumn Regional Specialities Exhibition 2026. Each event not only adds products to attract visitors but also expands the range of experiences available, encouraging longer stays and greater spending at destinations.
Accelerating towards the year-end target
Quang Ninh tourism has experienced nearly nine vibrant months with impressive results. These outcomes reflect combined efforts, including the city’s management and the positive impact of tourism stimulus measures and efforts to improve tourism quality. By the end of the first nine months of 2026, Quang Ninh had welcomed 18.8 million tourist arrivals, including 4.21 million international arrivals and 7.3 million overnight visitors. Total tourism revenue reached VND 56.4 trillion.
Results in the third quarter and first nine months show that targets for visitor numbers and total tourism revenue are broadly on schedule. However, to make a more substantive contribution to GRDP growth, the city’s tourism sector has identified its key tasks from now until the end of 2026 and in the coming period as going beyond simply increasing visitor numbers. Greater focus is needed on extending length of stay, raising average visitor spending, developing additional products and services, attracting international tourists from both traditional and emerging markets, and fully managing revenue generated from tourism activities.
One initiative is the “Ha Long Bay - Yen Tu Heritage Passport” programme, under which products will be developed around the values of Ha Long Bay World Natural Heritage Site, the Yen Tu Complex of Monuments and Landscapes, Bach Dang Relic Site, Quang Ninh Museum and traditional craft villages across the city. At the same time, the “Quang Ninh - Festival Rendezvous” programme will focus on developing products linked with series of cultural, arts and lighting activities, combined with other cultural, arts, sports and tourism activities to attract the attention of visitors and residents and stimulate demand for sightseeing and overnight stays.
In the final months of the year, international cruise tourism has been identified by Quang Ninh as one of the important visitor segments contributing to tourism growth. In the first nine months of 2026, Quang Ninh welcomed 49 international cruise ship calls carrying 58,879 passengers. In the third quarter alone, five cruise ships arrived with 8,133 passengers, including the first visit by the Adora Magic City, which brought more than 5,000 visitors to Quang Ninh. From now until the end of the year, around 30 additional international cruise ships are expected to call at Ha Long International Cruise Port.
With coordinated solutions being implemented, Quang Ninh tourism is confident of building further momentum and accelerating towards its 2026 targets of 23 million tourist arrivals and more than VND 70 trillion in total tourism revenue.
