In Ha Long city, Nov. 7, Mr. Pham Minh Chinh, member of the Central Party Committee, the Provincial Party Secretary had a meeting with Minister of Tourism, Malaysia - Mrs. Dato Sri DR. Ng Yen Yen and her accompanied delegation who want to explore investment opportunities of tourism and tourism infrastructure in Quang Ninh province. The meeting was also attended by Mr. Do Thong, Standing Vice-chairman of QNPPC; Mrs. Vu Thi Thu Thuy, vice-chairwoman of QNPPC and relevant provincial departments and sectors.
At the meeting, the Minister of Tourism, Malaysia has introduced to Quang Ninh’s leaders about economic and tourism development potentials of Malaysia. Malaysia has a population of 28 million. Tourism is one of the five key economic sectors of the country. Each year, tourism creates over 1 million jobs and contributes 25% of Malaysia’s GDP.
Also at the meeting, Mr. Pham Minh Chinh has introduced to the Minister about tourism potentials of Quang Ninh, such as potential of island and sea tourism; eco-tourism and spiritual tourism. Quang Ninh is an ideal destination of Vietnam. However, there are still shortcomings in tourism development, namely poor products; low quality human resource and inadequate tourism infrastructure.
Mr. Secretary stressed that current weaknesses of Quang Ninh tourism may be actually good opportunities for the investors in the future. He also added that in the coming years, tourism and trade service will expectably be the two key economic sectors of Quang Ninh province. Therefore, Quang Ninh wishes to receive close cooperation of Malaysia in developing this potential fields.
The leader of Quang Ninh’s Provincial Party would like to welcome to Quang Ninh in this December a Malaysian delegation of investment promotion enterprises led by the Tourism Minister to implement investment projects on tourism in Quang Ninh. He also promised that Quang Ninh will provide the best conditions for further development of the two sides.
