On Mar. 7, in Ha Long city, the Vice Chairman of Quang Ninh Nguyen Van Thang chaired a meeting on the plan for developing Van Don which is included in the conclusion No. 371/TB-VPCP dated on 24/9/2018 by the Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc at the previous working session with Quang Ninh’s leaders.
The draft plan states that Van Don will be developed into a dynamic economic center by the year 2050 with GRDP growth rate of 8%; the total production value of over VND 930 trillion, equivalent to GRDP reaching over VND 259 trillion; contributing to the state budget over 10% of production value. Along with that, the local population growth rate in the period of 2041-2050 will be 2%, bringing the total population from 52,000 people in 2019 to 300,000 people by 2050 and create jobs for 239,000 people. Health care services with a system of hi-quality medical centers will continuously be improved to better care for the people’s health. Friendly-environmentally technologies will be applied to ensure a fresh environment.
At the meeting, delegates as relevant sectors and deparments’ leaders raised their ideas on various issues, such as: the need of promotion plans during the development period in an effort to allure investors and tourists into the district; incentives to attract and train human resource for Van Don ; Other proposals in terms of security and defense, administrative reforms for foreigners, plans for conserving Bai Tu Long bay and turn it into a center for ASEAN Research Center… were also disussed at the meeting.
Concluding the meeting, Vice Chairman Nguyen Van Thang highly appreciated efforts of the Quang Ninh Economic Zone (EZ) Management Board in setting up the draft plan and asking them to collect ideas mentioned at the meeting to adjust specific tasks in the plan. Regarding the measures to attracting investment resources for the Van Don till 2030, the Vice Chairman directed the EZ Management Board in collaboration with Department of Constructrion to draw detailed plan for each stage, and then continue adjusting the plan before submitting to the QNPPC for approval.
