On April 12, in Ha Long city, Quang Ninh Provincial People’s Committee held a meeting to discuss about management, operation and development of the provincial expo and fair center.
Inaugurated in January of 2017, the provincial expo and fair center is an impressive building designed by a Spanish architect, Mr. Salvador Perez Aroyo. It is regarded as an iconic building of the city with the symbol of aquatic life and ecosystem. It now becomes a venue for significant cultural and social activities in the province.
Quang Ninh province planned to run the center under the model of “public investment and private management”.
At the meeting, a report was made by the Quang Ninh Investment Promotion Agency (IPA) regarding the current management and operation of the center. Accordingly, the expo and fair center is functioning as a modern cultural building, and enable to host mega events of the province.
With the aim of effectively tapping all the investment components of the expo and fair center, the Quang Ninh IPA proposed to operate the center in the form of “public investment and private management”.
A group of solutions to develop the center was also mentioned at the meeting, including the development of new product to allure tourists; organizing cultural and street events, as well as commercial, services activities, international exhibitions and meetings.
To conclude the meeting, Quang Ninh’s Vice Chairman Nguyen Van Thang highly appreciated great efforts of Quang Ninh Investment Promotion Agency for their strategies to develop the center.
“Quang Ninh eyes to operate the center under the PPP form so that it could be developed into a unique world class tourism product of Quang Ninh”, said the Vice Chairman, “Thus, proposals must be suitable to the current situation of the province in order to attract more locals and visitors to the center”, he added.
Quang Ninh’s Vice Chairman Nguyen Van Thang asked the Quang Ninh IPA and relevant departments to rapidly fulfill legal procedures and set up plan for the trial operation of the center, then submit the QNPPC so that it could become an attractive tourism product of Quang Ninh province.
