As planned, the Van Don International Airport in Quang Ninh province will be put in operation in late December, 2018. The national flag carrier of Vietnam - Vietnam Airlines (VNA) and VietJet Air have recently launched flights to Van Don airport.
According to the Deputy Minister of Construction Le Quang Hung at the meeting on Dec. 8, to date, the airport ensures all the neccessary conditions to receive the first flights.
International and domestic airlines which have flights to this airport will be financed for communication and promotion fees on local mass media and through the investment promotion and culture events of Quang Ninh province.
Quang Ninh province also considers reduction in transportation costs for buses from the airport to Van Don district, Cam Pha and Ha Long cities, and vice versa.
Passengers on flights to Van Don international airport are offered free entrance to Yen Tu relic site (in Uong Bi city), Ha Long Bay Natural Heritage site and Bai Tu Long Bay (excluding overnight visit on the bay) within 30 days. Incentives will be offered to the passengers for a duration of 3 years from Jan. 1, 2019 to Dec 31, 2021).
Through the above-mentioned incentives, Quang Ninh shows its willingness to accompany enterprises and investors during their investments. Currently, Quang Ninh is supporting the Sun group to fulfiling the last procedures so that the airport could be ready for the flights.
