On August 27, Quang Ninh’s Chairman chaired an online meeting regarding Benthanh Group’s investment proposalsin Mong Cai Border Economic Zone. The meeting was also attended by representatives from departments, sectors, Mong Cai City, and Hai Ha District.
Mong Cai Border Economic Zone is established in line with the Prime Minister’s Decision No.19/2012/QĐ-TTg dated Apr.10, 2012. The economic zone covers a natural area of 121,197 ha, including the whole of Mong Cai City, Hai Ha Seaport Industrial Park, Quang Ha Town, and Communes of Quang Thang, Quang Thanh, Quang Minh, Quang Trung, Cai Chien in Hai ha District.
Quang Ninh’s Chairman highly appreciated Benthanh Group’s proposals. He recommended Benthanh Group, Mong Cai City, and Hai Ha District to continue working with the consultancy firm to update general planning for Mong Cai Border Economic Zone.
As for the idea of expanding Hai Ha Seaport Industrial Park, Quang Ninh’s Chairman emphasized that the area embraces new opportunities of big investment. Therefore, the Quang Ninh Economic Zone Management Board should review sub-area planning in which high-tech sectors will be given priority.
With regards to building a multi-functional international tourism urban area on Vinh Thuc Island, an area for border economic cooperation and eco-tourism urban area in Hai Hoa Ward, Mong Cai City, he suggested the Group to co-ordinate with Mong Cai city and relevant units to update boundaries of defense land and protection forests to minimize impacts on natural landscape.
