On the afternoon of September 3, free electric buses for students were officially launched, operating in Ha Long, Hong Gai and Ha Tu wards. The initiative addresses the everyday needs of families, providing students with a safer and more convenient journey to school, giving parents greater peace of mind, and demonstrating that support for the younger generation can begin with practical measures. Quang Ninh City is also the first locality in the country to introduce this model.
Accordingly, Quang Ninh City operates six routes with 50 thirty-seat electric buses, serving around 2,151 students, equivalent to 82.9% of the demand identified in the survey. Students will use the service completely free of charge. The operation of the electric bus routes will contribute to improving traffic order and safety, while also reducing congestion around schools. The initiative will also help improve the quality of public services, gradually develop green transport and effectively implement Quang Ninh City’s social welfare policies.
