In Ha Long city, Nov. 5 , QNPPC had a meeting with the McKinsey Consulting Group (from the US) and the Investment Consulting and Trade Promotion Co., Ltd to exchange collaboration capacities in building development strategy for Quang Ninh province. The meeting was attended by Mr. Pham Minh Chinh, member of the Central Party Committee, the Provincial Party Secretary; Mr. Do Thong, standing vice-chairman of QNPPC and leaders of relevant departments and sectors .
At the meeting, Mr. Pham Minh Chinh has emphasized that development strategy of Quang Ninh province to the year of 2020 and in the vision of 2030 must be built based on the examination of the issues related to policy, such as: identification, current situation, solutions and methods of implementation.
Mr. Secretary stressed that in 2012, Quang Ninh will spend around VND 400 billion on building development strategy and planning issues. Specifically, Quang Ninh will focus on building socio- economic development strategy for the whole province, sectors and localities; building strategy of planning for urban and infrastructure; planning for land and resources; and planning for human resource training. In addition, the province will also spend 4- 5% of the provincial budget on applying and transferring science and technology.
Mr. Pham Minh Chinh believed that with its experiences and reputation of an international consulting group, the McKinsey will examine and build a stable and sustainable development strategy for Quang Ninh province.
Discussing at the meeting, representatives of the Group expressed their wish and willingness to be the consulting unit to draw the development strategy for Quang Ninh in the coming years. At the same time, they proposed that the province should provide them with strong support, adequate necessary data . Especially, during the implementation process, it is very important for them to collaborate with young and dynamic officials who have experiences in working with foreign consultants.
To conclude the working session, on behalf of the leaders of QNPPC, Mr. Do Thong expressed his appreciation for the goodwill of the McKinsey Consulting Group. He confirmed that Quang Ninh will soon direct its functional sectors to undertake their missions based on the above-mentioned recommendations of the group and will provide the best conditions for the experts so that they could successfully complete the project on development strategy of Quang Ninh.
