On June 14, in Ha Long city, Quang Ninh Provincial Party Committee Secretary Pham Minh Chinh had a meeting with the Director of Perkins & Will Firm Russ Drinker and Mr. Nguyen Van Quang- the Aurecon’s director. Mr. Nguyen Van Thanh, Vice-Chairman of QNPPC as well as leaders of relevant departments also attended the meeting.
The Vice-Chairman of QNPPC Ngyen Van Thanh expressed his pleasure to welcome Russ Drinker and his delegation. He confirmed that Quang Ninh is interested in designing and planning construction activities that the firm is doing. He also stated that the province defines that planning is an important part of its socio-economic development, 2012 is therefore the year to develop strategies and planning of the province.
Mr. Nguyen Van Thanh hoped that through this meeting, the two sides will get more chances to have good cooperation.
At the meeting, Russ Drinker has briefed the expertise of his firm, notably its capacity in drawing planning for sustainable environmental protection. In the US, Perkins & Will is very famous for architectural consultation and doing well the businesses of architecture, infrastructure. It ranks the 17th in the world for its turnover. The firm wishes to cooperate with Quang Ninh province in designing plans for sustainable environmental protection to attract more investors in the province.
To conclude the meeting, Mr. Pham Minh Chinh sincerely thanked Russ Drinker and his entourage for their visit to Quang Ninh. He indicated that the highest target of the province is to attract more good projects and investors. Quang Ninh will study some projects that are being implemented by the firm. The Party leader of the province wished that the firm will continue their study and soon provide Quang Ninh with a proposal presenting their ideas so that the two sides could consider a possible cooperation.
