Press meeting on project to connect Co To island with national power grid

On November 11th, a press meeting was held by the Provincial Party Committee’s Propaganda Department regarding the starting of the project to connect Co To island and five island communes of Van Don district with the national power grid.

The project was ratified by QNPPC in the Decision No 919/QĐ-UBND dated 25/4/2012, with the total investment capital of VND 655,211 bln.

With the aim of establishing an electrical cable system connecting the island to the national electricity grid on the mainland, the project includes four construction components: 17.5 km of overhead transmission lines and a 110kV transformer station with capacity of 40 MVA at Van Don district, 10.2 km of overhead transmission from Van Don 1 station to Dai Chuoi, nearly 25 km of underground 22 kV cable from Dai Chuoi to Co To island and nearly 12.5 km of overhead 22-kV line and branch lines connecting electricity to Dong Tien, Thanh Lan and Co To town.

The project also covers a construction of 26 km of low pressure line connecting electricity to Dong Tien commune, Thanh Lan commune and Co To town and 12 distribution stations with a total capacity of nearly 3,000kV and installation of 1,500 new electric meters.
The project is expected to be completed within 12 months.
