MoU on building Thermal Power Plant inked

Vice Chairman of QNPPC Nguyen Van Thanh and a representative of Posco Energy Co., Ltd., (under Pohang Iron and Steel Company-Posco, Korea) signed a Memorandum of Understanding on building a Thermal Power Plant in Quang Ninh during a meeting held on October 30 in Ha Long city.

Under the MoU, the Posco Energy Co., Ltd., and Quang Ninh will coolaborate to invest in building a new thermal power plant in Quang Ninh with a minimum capacity of 1,200MW. It will be invested in the investment form of BOT with a total capital of around US$ 2 bln.

Chang Dong Shin, Deputy Chief Excutive Officer of Posco Energy Co., Ltd., said, the company is investing in building a thermal power plant in Ninh Binh province and the Mong Duong II thermal power plant. This is expected to be a basis for the company to successfully conduct the new thermal power plant in Quang Ninh. He strongly affirmed to do all the best to implement the project ensuring the quality and progress.

Vice Chairman of QNPPC, in turn, emphasized that Quang Ninh always considers the success of enterprises is the success of the province. The Vice Chairman of QNPPC affirmed that Quang Ninh is compared as "a Vietnam in miniature", gathering the favourable conditions in terms of nature and people. In addition the province is emphasizing on improvement of administrative procedures and investment environment. These factors will surely enable the Posco Energy Co., Ltd., smoothly implement this project.
