Mong Cai to organize a workshop on developing Mong Cai to be an international border city

Following Quang Ninh Investment Promotion Conference 2012, Mong Cai city People’s Committee has asked for permission from QNPPC to organize a workshop aiming at orienting development and proposing solutions, mechanisim, and policies to build Mong Cai into a modern international border city. This is a good chance for Mong Cai to recognize and re-identify its development trends in order to build development strategy for the next years.

The workshop aims to affirm Mong Cai city’s advantages in the context of general development of Quang Ninh province and the nationawide. It will also indicate difficulties and challages in developing the city into a modern international border one   . Mong Cai City People’s Commiittee’s leaders would like to receive comments and advices from researchers, leading economic experts, managers and scholars to propose measures, machanisms and policies to build this city into a modern international border city following the Conclusion N047-KL/TW of the Politburo under the Decision N099/2009 dated 29-7-2009 of the PM.


The workshop will focus on two main contents, including the view of the QNPPC on orientation of developing Mong Cai  international border city and thematic seminars covering 3 groups of the key issues. The first one is a development model, international experiences and orientation to develop Mong Cai into a modern international border city. The second one is about incentive mechanisms, policies on tax, land, trade, investment, e.t.c. The last one contains the State management of economy, urban areas…


QNPPC will directly chair this workshop which will be held at Majestic-VRG Hotel (in Mong Cai city) on March 31, 2012 with the participation of around 150-180 delegates representing for Ministries, Central sectors, researchers, scientists, provincial leaders and reporters…Additionally, the workshop will be organized in form of presentation and open-discussion.
Speaking at the working session, Chairman of QNPPC stated that more powerful mechanisms and specific measures need to be proposed in this workshop with the aim of speeding up the progress of developing Mong Cai into a modern international border city. For his part, the Provincial Party Secretary Pham Minh Chinh emphasized that the purpose of the workshop is to recognize and identify the development of Mong Cai city within the general development of the province and the nationwide as well as in the relationship with China. He added that the city must be developed in the orientation of a rapid and sustainable development in association with national security and defense.
Chinh also requested relevant sectors and departments to collaborate with Mong Cai City People’s Committee to sucessfully organize the workshop.
