On Mar. 19, a group from Vietnam’s Ministry of Planning and Investment had a working session with Quang Ninh’ province regarding the operation, investment and development of the infrastructure in Mong Cai Border Economic Zone.
According to the master plan, Mong Cai Border Economic Zone functions as an economic, trade, tourism, service, and seaport center of Northern Midland and Mountainous Region, Tokin Gulf Coastal Economic Belt, and the connecting point with Kunming Economic Corridor of China.
After four years of operation, Mong Cai Border Economic Zone made great changes in socio-economic development and urbanization. In the period of 2016 and 2018, total import-export turnover through the zone reached 3.5 billion USD. The value of temporary imports and re-export as well as bonded warehouse storage alone stood at over 13 billion VND, accounting for 90% of the re-exported through different border gates in the province.
