On Nov. 6, in Ha Long City, Standing Vice Chairman of Quang Ninh Provincial People’s Committee Dang Huy Hau, Head of the Steering Board of Green Growth Promotion project in Ha Long Bay area, Quang Ninh Province, in the second phase, presided over a meeting of the project’s Steering Board.
The above-mentioned project has been jointly implemented since November 2016 by Quang Ninh Province and Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) with the purpose of promoting green growth in Quang Ninh through the transfer of economic growth model so called from “brown to green growth”. After three years of implementation, the project has seen remarkable results, providing mechanisms to promote green growth.
At the meeting, the participants discussed some measures to promote Quang Ninh green growth for the next stage. Accordingly, the project will focus on improving the effectiveness of the environmental protection fund, overcoming difficulties in pilot installation and use of Bio-toilets, effectively promoting the White Book on the green growth and enhancing communication at schools, etc.
Closing the meeting, the Standing Vice Chairman Dang Huy Hau affirmed the effort and success of the two sides in the process of the project implementation contributed to promoting green growth in Ha Long Bay and sincerely thanked JICA for their coordination. Regarding the next phase of the project, the Standing Vice Chairman Dang Huy Hau assigned the Department of Planning and Investment to draft a plan to maintain green growth projects in Ha Long Bay for the period of 2020 – 2025 with the target of improving the quality of the projects that have been completely done.
