On Feb. 13, in Ha Long city, Vice Chairman of Quang Ninh Provincial People’s Committee Nguyen Van Thang chaired a meeting with representatives of the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) in Vietnam regarding the progress of the Ha Long City Water Environment Improvement Project, which aims to increase the wastewater treatment capacity in Halong City by constructing urban wastewater treatment facilities, thereby contributing to the improvement of sanitary conditions and sustainable development of the City.
Implemented from 2015 and expected to complete by 2021 with approximately VND3,200 billion invested from Japanese ODA, the project includes main components of construction, rainwater drainage sysem and waste water treatment system within the city.
At the session, the two sides discussed about all the project’s legal procedures to prepare for the ODA loan agreement that will be inked between Japan and Vietnam in this June.
“The Ha Long City Water Environment Improvement Project will not only improve the living environment of the locals onshore but also contribute to protecte the environment and the landscape of Halong Bay World Heritage Site”, stressed the Vice Chairman. He then asked the JICA to continue collaborating with Quang Ninh province to deal with problems arising during the procedures completion so that it could be implemented as planed.
