On May 22, in Ha Long City, the Vietnamese Ministry of Information, Communication and the Laos Ministry of Information, Culture and Tourism and Quang Ninh Provincial People's Committee jointly held an international conference on "the role of media in tourism development".
Prominent among those at the conference were Vietnamese Deputy Minister Hoang Vinh Bao, Laos Deputy minister Savankhone Razmountry and Quang Ninh’s Vice Chairwoman Vũ Thị Thu Thủy, along with representatives from press agencies of the two countries.
In her opening remarks, Vice Chairwoman Vu Thi Thu Thuy affirmed that by defining the important role of the information and communication in promoting tourism and attracting domestic and international tourists, Quang Ninh has not only undertaken a range of robust measures to uphold the role of media in tourism development but also actively and diversely provided information to press agencies in different ways.
Quang Ninh also took the conference as a good opportunity to consult experts and delegates about solutions to further foster the journalism’s role in boosting Quang Ninh’s tourism.
The conference focuses on 3 main subjects, clarifying role of journalism and communication to the development of tourism sector in Vietnam and Laos. The specific contents includes: upholding the role of journalism and communication in heritages’ preservation and sustainable tourism development; increasing cultural exchanges; taking advantages of journalism types to promote the image of land and people of Vietnam; exchanging experiences in management and organization of information and communication activities to support tourism development.
