High-quality shrimp breeding complex in Dam Ha inaugurated

The high-quality shrimp breeding complex invested by Vietnam-Australia Corporation was officially opened in Dam Ha district on April 23.

The complex covers an area of nearly 170 hectares in Tan Lap commune, Dam Ha district, with the total investment capital of VND829 billion. The complex includes a shrimp breeding area, a food manufacturing plant, a hi-tech intensive shrimp farming greenhouse, and a shrimp processing plant for export. The project is divided into two phases, focusing on building technical infrastructure, commercial shrimp breeding areas and waste treatment plants.  

After 2 years of construction, the first phase of the project has been completed, including the shrimp breeding area with a capacity of 8 billion breeds per year; the artemia production area (artemia-one kind of food for shrimps) and an international standard laboratory for the breeds production in Quang Ninh resulted from the engagement of Quang Ninh Provincial People’s Committee and the Vietnam - Australia Corp, contributing to the supply of high quality shrimp that fits the typical climate of the North, thereby gradually creating the concentrated shrimp farming area to serve export.

Also at the opening ceremony, the Vietnam-Australia Corp released shrimp breeds at the commercial shrimp breeding area that produces shrimp breeds in the glass houses.

Speaking at the ceremony, Deputy Minister of the Agriculture and Rural Development Phung Duc Tien and Vice Chairman of Quang Ninh province Dang Huy Hau highly appreciated efforts of the Vietnam-Australia Corp. in implementing this project, which partly contributes to the development of shirmp breeding of Vietnam in general and Quang Ninh province in particular.

They strongly affirmed that Quang Ninh is a locality with lots of natural potential for aquaculture development, seafood consumption, and export. Therefore, the inauguration of the high-quality shrimp breeding complex is an important start in line with the country and province’s orientations to develop fishery and shrimp breeding.

Also at the ceremony, the Vietnam - Australia Group was urged to operate the shrimp broodstock breeding area in Dam Ha in order to meet the demand for shrimp breeding. The Deputy Minister of the Agriculture and Rural Development Phung Duc Tien and Vice Chairman of Quang Ninh province asked the Corp to enhance research and application of new technologies into the shrimp breeding to increase production efficiency and protect ecological environment, ensuring the sustainable development of the shrimp industry.

Quang Ninh’s Vice Chairman Dang Huy Hau pledged that Quang Ninh Province will accelerate the establishment of the provincial high-tech agricultural park project in Dam Ha district by upgrading the high-quality shrimp breeding complex in Dam Ha by the Vietnam-Australia Corp.
