Ha Long - Van Don expressway to open on Feb. 1

On Jan. 26, the State Acceptance Council conducted pre-handover inspection of the The Ha Long – Van Don expressway, which was evaluated to ensure hi-quality and technology to become operational in from Feb. 1, 2019.

The project’s investor was asked to ensure transport satefy and establish a management center from now till the end of January. Drivers are advised to slowdown their vehicles to below the designed speed of 100km/h as the new route and technical problems must be completely dealt with in the first quarter of 2019.

The Ha Long- Van Don expressway is built under the build-operate-transfer (BOT) form with an investment value of over 12,000 billion VND. After three years of implementation, the construction of all the main components of the 4-lane Ha Long - Van Don expressway with the length of nearly 6 kilometers and maximum speed of 100km per hour have been completed.

To date, the preparations for the operation of the two main auto toll collection stations and the two extra stations are ready. The expressway users will have to pay toll fees with a rate of VND 2,100/ km for 53.6 kilometers in BOT form. However, epressway users from Cam Hai (Cam Pha city) to Van Don district will not be charged as it is invested with the State budget.

The Ha Long- Van Don expressway toll collection trial began on Jan. 23 for its official operation on Feb. 1 as scheduled.
