National Assembly Chairman Nguyen Sinh Hung has asked his visiting El Salvador counterpart Sigfrido Reyes to encourage the El Salvador government to early recognise Vietnam’s market economy status.
During talks with Sigfrido Reyes in Hanoi on June 6, Hung also proposed that the El Salvador government support and create favourable conditions for Vietnamese businesses to operate in this Latin American nation.
He briefed his guest on Vietnam’s recent development achievements and stressed that despite their newly established diplomatic ties, Vietnam and El Salvador have treasured long standing relationship, since the former was struggling for national liberation and unification.
Vietnam and El Salvador hold high-level talks in Hanoi
Hung expressed his hope that the Vietnam National Assembly and the Legislative Assembly of El Salvador will increase delegation exchanges, share information and work closely at multilateral parliamentary forums.
Sigfrido Reyes said the purpose of his visit to Vietnam is to examine the possibility of strengthening cooperation between the two legislative bodies and peoples.
Through the visit, El Sanvador wants to share experience with Vietnam in implementing poverty reduction and social welfare policies, so as to boost friendly cooperation in the interest of each country and for peace and development in the region and the world as a whole, he said.
He said he hopes that Vietnam will help El Salvador develop cooperative relations with other countries in Southeast Asia and Asia-Pacific regions.
Both host and guest shared information on the operations of their legislative bodies and exchanged views on regional and international issues of mutual concern.
They agreed to strengthen the close cooperation between the two legislative bodies to promote mutual understanding and develop joint cooperation projects in the areas of politics, diplomacy, culture and tourism.
Chairman of the El Salvador Legislative Assembly Sigfrido Reyes began an official visit to Vietnam on June 6 at the invitation of Vietnam National Assembly Chairman Nguyen Sinh Hung.
