Amid Covid 19 spirals, Quang Ninh Customs Department has enhanced inspection, control and prevention of entry and exit activities, smuggling and illegal commodity transportation via border areas, and proactively implemented solutions to support import-export activities via border gates in the province.
Identifying Covid 19 prevention and control associated with the goal of fulfilling the assigned political tasks and maintaining the province’s growth targets in 2020, right from the first days of Covid 10 outbreak, Quang Ninh Customs Department has proactively implemented synchronous preventive measures. Accordingly, Quang Ninh Customs Department issued 48 documents on urgent measures against Covid 19. Furthermore, the Department also set up the Steering Committee and three working groups assigned by Quang Ninh Provincial People’s Committee.
The Department established the working group to support commodity import-export activities, disease prevention, instructed customs procedures for import-export goods, entry and exit means of transportation from disease-hit areas, solutions to solve difficulties for import-export enterprises followed by the Prime Minister’s direction. At the same time, the Department proposed the Government for permiting the border gates of Bac Phong Sinh and Ka Long continue to maintain import and export activities of goods on the principle of strict control of Covid 19 pandemic.
In parallel with the above-mentioned measures, the Deparment has also actively coordinated with functional forces to strengthen inspection, control and prevention of illegal entry and exit, smuggling and illegal goods transportation etc. As a result, from early year until Apr 2, 2020, the unit arrested 60 cases of smuggling and illegal commodity transportation via border areas with the values of infringing goods of over 6.1 bil.VND.
Notably, thanks to the initiative in undertaking preventive measures, import-export activities are normal at border gates and seaports. Specifically, from Apr 1 to 5, 2020, the provincial Customs sector approved 1,354 declarations with 154, 424 tons of goods for 120 import-export enterprises, worth 111.9 mil.USD, and contributed 38.8 bil.VND to the state budget.
Facing the complicated development of Covid 10 pandemic, Quang Ninh Customs Department identifies to maintain preventive measures and continues to review, analyze and forecast the situation to implement supportive measures, thereby creating favorable conditions for enterprises’ import and export activities.
