Customs clearance through Vietnam-China Bac Luan II bridge launches

On March 19, in Mong Cai city, Quang Ninh province and the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region jointly held a customs clearance ceremony for Bac Luan II bridge connecting Mong Cai city (Quang Ninh province, Vietnam) with Dongxing city (Guangxi province, China).

Prominent among those at the meeting were Secretary of the Quang Ninh Provincial Party’s Committee cum Chairman of the Provincial People’s Council Nguyen Van Doc, Deputy Secretary of the Quang Ninh Provincial Party’s Committee Ngo Hoang Ngan and Party Secretary and Governor of the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region Lu Xinshe.

The Bac Luan II bridge has been officially inaugurated since September, 2017. This reinforced concrete bridge is 27.7 m wide and 618 m long. Particularly, its part in Vietnam side is 154.4m long. Built at a cost of VND 336 billion, this bridge emerges as the largest arch bridge in the country. 

Bac Luan II bridge plays a significant role in not only considerablely decreasing the traffic flow through the bridge of Bac Luan I but also contributing to enhancing trade exchange between Vietnam and China.

The Bac Luan II Bridge Interdisciplinary Checkpoints aims to improve the capacity of inspecting and controlling immigration and import-export activities. Furthermore, it can also assist much in guaranteeing security and developing the technical infrastructure system in border areas.

Previously, Quang Ninh built an access road to the bridge and called for investment in a 7,000-square-meter custom clearance yard and a range of modern equipment and cranes with lifting capacity of up to 100 tons.

As planned, construction of the Van Don-Mong Cai highway linking to the access road will start in late March, 2019. On completion, the route running from Mong Cai, Ha Long and passing through Hai Phong city, Hanoi city to Lao Cai province will become Vietnam’s longest expressway.
