The US$155 million -project to build berth 2, 3, and 4 of the Cai Lan Port with the total length of 594 meters invested by the Cai Lan International Container Terminal Ltd. Co.,(CICT) has been implemented since December of 2010.
To date, the investor has completed the construction of berth 3&4 with the total length of 387 meters. These berths are equipped with the most modern facilities.
Recently, at the end of July, the Vietnam Maritime Administration has agreed with the CICT to put berth 3 and 4 into operation. As planed, these two berths will receive the first container-vessels in Mid-August, 2012.
In order to meet the demand of loading and dropping commodities, employees of the CICT are actively practicing to well operate all equipmentsEspecially, the operation of the 4 large Post Panamax cranes are carefully practiced by the workers of the Port.
Crane drivers of the CICT can now professionally operate all equipments and load 27-34 containers per hourAll preparations are ready for receiving the first container-vessels at the port. Besides, all the components of berth 2 are also quickly completed by the contractor to be put in operation by the end of 2012.
