A meeting to comment on Pearl Growing Project combined with sightseeing

On May 22, in Ha Long city, a meeting was held with the participation of representatives from some provincial departments and sectors and Vietnam Pearl JSC (based in Hanoi) to provide comments on the investment project on enhancing production capacity, developing in a sustainable way, and integrating in pear growing industry at global level.

The project is expected to use 860 ha of water area on Ha Long Bay and Bai Tu Long Bay, an 24,500 sq.m of production land area in Ha Long city. Its implementation duration is 6 years with the total investment capital of over VND 192,77 bln, creating jobs for around 683 local people.

Along with growing pearl for trading, the project also focuses on developing a sightseeing tour combined with shopping pearl products at the manufacturing areas on the Bay.

At the meeting, the investor-Vietnam Pearl JSC also raised their proposalsto QNPPC regarding expanding land and water area for the project. The company wishes to have a clear understanding of other planning of the province on the sea in order to minimize negative impacts from overlappings.

For their parts, representatives of sectors and departments highly appreciated the project’s feasibility; however, they noted that because this is a large-scale project with high investment capital, the investor needs to review its area, locations as well as financial capacity.

After the meeting, all the participants’ opinions will be synthesized to be reported to the QNPPC.
