On the morning of September 6, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in coordination with the Hue City People’s Committee and the Embassy of Japan in Vietnam, organised the 2026 Vietnam–Japan Local Cooperation Forum at the Song Huong Theatre in Vinh Ninh Ward, Hue City. Themed “Vietnam–Japan Local Cooperation: Shaping a Digital, Green and Sustainable Future — From Strategic Commitments to Practical Action”, the Forum was chaired by Le Minh Hung, Politburo Member and Prime Minister. The Quang Ninh City delegation, led by Le Van Anh, Vice Chairman of the Quang Ninh City People’s Committee, attended the Forum.
The Forum focused on reviewing and assessing the results of cooperation between Vietnamese and Japanese localities in recent years; discussing ways to promote cooperation in various fields; promoting the cultures and distinctive products of the two countries; and strengthening connections among localities, businesses and organisations from Vietnam and Japan.
At the Forum, the Quang Ninh City delegation had the opportunity to exchange views and share experience with Japanese localities, organisations and businesses, while also exploring opportunities to expand cooperation in areas aligned with the city’s development orientations, particularly science and technology, innovation, digital transformation, urban development, culture, tourism and human resources training.
The 2026 Vietnam–Japan Local Cooperation Forum is an initiative aimed at concretising the two countries’ cooperation priorities in science and technology, innovation, digital transformation and economic security. It also contributes to strengthening local-level connectivity, promoting economic diplomacy, cultural diplomacy, people-to-people exchanges and cooperation in developing high-quality human resources, contributing to an increasingly substantive and effective Vietnam–Japan relationship.
