Quang Ninh welcomed nearly 19 million visitors in the first nine months of 2026, including an estimated of more than 4.2 million international arrivals, generating approximately 56.4 trillion VND in tourism revenue. These positive results have provided strong momentum for the city to achieve its annual tourism targets of attracting more than 23 million visitor arrivals, including around 5 million international arrivals, and generating over 70 trillion VND in tourism revenue.
As the autumn-winter tourism season gets underway, Quang Ninh is stepping up promotional efforts to attract visitors with seasonal experiences such as autumn excursions to Yen Tu, the golden rice fields of Binh Lieu and Luc Hon, highland and border tourism, cruises around its heritage bay, and hot spring wellness retreats Quang Hanh Onsen. The city is also intensifying promotional campaigns and partnerships to attract more visitors as the international cruise season gets into full swing.
Since the beginning of the year, Quang Ninh’s tourist destinations have welcomed more than 4.2 million international visitors, with cruise tourism contributing to these arrivals. Most recently, the city received 1,400 European and American visitors abroad the luxury cruise ship King Venus. Upon arriving at Ha Long International Cruise Port, the visitors toured popular attractions, including Ha Long Bay, Quang Ninh Museum and Yen Duc village. They also experienced local culture and cuisine as well as going shopping in the area. Tours to Hanoi’s Old Quarter, Bat Trang pottery village and neighboring localities were also popular among passengers. Earlier, the international cruise ship Dream brought more than 2,300 Chinese visitors to Quang Ninh.
The successive arrival of international cruise ships, including vessels carrying thousands of passengers, underscores Quang Ninh’s appeal as a destination on the international cruise tourism map. The city expects to welcome around 30 international cruise ship calls in the final months of the year, helping attract more international visitors, boost tourism and service activities, and generate additional revenue for the local economy.
Quang Ninh is stepping up efforts to attract more than 4 million additional visitors by the end of the year through tourism events, promotional campaigns and partnerships aimed at drawing more international cruise passengers.
One of the key events will be the 2026 Quang Ninh Food Festival, scheduled for November 20-24 at the Vui Fest Complex in the Sun Marina Ha Long urban area, Bai Chay Ward. Held under the theme “Quang Ninh-A destination showcasing the Finest Culinary Traditions”, the festival is expected to feature around 150 booths showcasing culinary arts, regional specialties and OCOP products under Vietnam’s One Commune One Product program. Visitors will be able to watch chefs prepare dishes, learn about local food culture and sample a wide range of regional specialties. The festival will also feature artistic performances, cocktail-making demonstrations and recognition of signature dishes. Organizers expect the event to attract between 50,000 and 60,000 domestic and international visitors.
Meanwhile, promotional activities are also underway for the golden rice harvest festivals in Binh Lieu and Luc Hon. The events will offer distinctive experiences centered on the natural beauty of the harvest season and local cultural heritage. The opening ceremony is scheduled for October 24, with activities including trekking through natural landscapes, camping on Cao Xiem Mountain, harvesting rice on terraced fields, sampling OCOP products and local cuisine, and learning traditional embroidery. These experiences are expected to add to the appeal of Quang Ninh during the autumn-winter tourism season.
A packed schedule of tourism events and efforts to draw more international cruise passengers will be central to Quang Ninh’s push to reach its target of more than 23 million visitors this year.
