Insisting on the viewpoint that “Not trade off environment for economic growth”, Uong Bi City has recently implemented innovative measures to improve the quality of natural environment. By now, the effectiveness has been recognized by local residents, tourists and investors.
4 machines which sweep, vacuum and collect trash on main streets has become familiar with Uong Bi citizens these days. It shows determination of Uong Bi city in protecting the environmental.
From initial results, the model of using street sweeping machines is being spread by the city, mobilizing social sources. The innovative way of Uong Bi is step by step boosting the application of modern technology, reducing labor cost and increasing productivity in improving the natural environment.
The city is providing more information for people and whole community in order to increase their environment care awareness and sense of responsibility; launching the movement of people actively responding to the green-clean and beautiful Sundays at communes, wards, hamlets, zones, agencies, businesses…By now, the city has mobilized nearly 45,000 participants to join the street cleaning campaigns. 836 kilometers of road, 55,000 meters of drains and ditches have been cleaned and 3,300 tons of waste has been collected. The city also co-operates with other units to conduct environmental protection projects and proposals, such as: project to increase people’s awareness on solid waste control; proposal to separate waste at its source; project to support farmers to build bio-gas stations.
A group of more than 100 members including leaders of the city, functional offices, wards and communes, on the Vietnam’s social media Zalo was created to notify all environmental pollution cases. Thanks to the connectivity, pollution cases have been informed and dealt with on time, avoided complaints or anger of citizens. Along with that, 9 trash collecting construction waste stations were established as well.
The comprehensive and effective implementation of measures are helping improve natural environment and contribute to the purpose of a green-clean and beautiful city.
