Turning music events into tourism products

Developing music events into key cultural tourism products has become an increasingly clear direction for Quang Ninh in recent years.

No longer merely supporting cultural events, art performances are now being designed as complete and distinctive tourism products. Quang Ninh’s most notable difference lies in blending music with the setting of its natural wonder. A series of live stages on cruise vessels in the heart of the heritage site, acoustic nights at sunset on hilltops, and lively music festivals along the bay have created multisensory experiences for audiences. When visiting the city, spectators can not only enjoy their favourite music performed by well-known artists, but also immerse themselves in the sea breeze, sunset and the shimmering beauty of the bay at night.

According to Chairman of the Vietnam Musicians’ Association Nguyen Duc Trinh, international music events have helped create a professional music brand and enhance the appeal of the tourism destination. They also provide a favourable opportunity to introduce the land and people of Quang Ninh to international friends, while bringing contemporary music closer to the public and visitors and enriching the musical life of a locality with strong tourism potential.

For music to truly become a long-term pillar of tourism rather than a passing trend, Quang Ninh is moving towards greater professionalism and sustainability. Together with organisers, the city has paid close attention to strict control of waterway traffic safety, technical standards for floating stages along the coast, and ensuring that sound and lighting do not adversely affect the ecological environment of Ha Long Bay. At the same time, gradually building annual international music festival brands will be key to retaining returning visitors and reaching a global tourist audience.

Turning sound into a tourism resource reflects a shift towards more creative thinking in Quang Ninh’s tourism sector. It is an approach that uses natural heritage to celebrate the arts and the arts to enrich heritage values. This direction not only helps the locality become a vibrant year-round destination, but also affirms its pioneering position in developing entertainment tourism products rich in cultural identity in Vietnam.
