In the first nine months of 2026, Quang Ninh welcomed 18.8 million tourist arrivals, up 9.9% year on year; international arrivals reached 4.21 million, up 28%. Tourism revenue totalled VND 56.4 trillion, an increase of 27.38%. Accommodation and food service revenue reached VND 26.9 trillion, up 31.8%, while trade revenue amounted to VND 465.3 trillion, up 25.7%.

These results indicate continued growth in consumer spending and demand for experiential tourism in the fourth quarter. Under the 2026 autumn-winter tourism stimulus programme, themed “Quang Ninh City - Reaching new heights with heritages”, a series of events are being organised to refresh experiences and make the destinations more attractive. Highlights include cultural, artistic, sporting and entertainment events such as the Halo Bay Show, VuiFest Night Market, light shows, the Yen Tu Autumn Festival, Binh Lieu Then Festival and the Ha Long Heritage Marathon. Tourism promotion conferences, business networking events and market surveys are also being organised, alongside efforts to expand into key international markets including China, South Korea, Japan, India, ASEAN and Russia.

Alongside tourism and consumer spending, import-export and logistics activities continue to generate additional momentum for the service sector. In the first nine months, exports by businesses in the city are estimated at USD 3.545 billion, a year on year increase of 17.2%, while imports reached USD 3.987 billion, up 18.5% year on year. Sectors and units are working to diversify markets, improve supply-chain efficiency. Efforts are also under way to develop the Mong Cai-Dongxing Smart Border Gate, and accelerate the completion of seaport infrastructure, shipping channels and warehousing facilities to reduce costs and transport time for businesses.

In particular, the city is also working to address procedural difficulties for the AEON MALL Ha Long project so that it can begin operations as soon as possible. Once in operation, the project is expected to contribute around VND 30 trillion annually to the city’s total retail sales. Together, National E-commerce Week and Vietnam Online Shopping Day - Online Friday 2026 are expected to stimulate consumer spending, expand distribution channels and increase the attractiveness of the retail market.

The year-end period is important for Quang Ninh to make more effective use of its tourism potential, stimulate consumer spending and create further growth momentum for the service sector. These efforts will help unlock additional growth in the fourth quarter and contribute to the fulfilment of the city’s 2026 economic targets.
