Tien Cong Festival – "Carnaval" in Ha Nam Island

The Tien Cong Festival (Quang Yen town) is held from the 5th to the 7th of the first lunar month every year. This is a festival of processions taking the elderly aged 80, 90 and 100 to the temple in Cam La commune to pay tribute to the Creators, who came from the Thang Long Imperial Citadel in the post-Le dynasty to Bach Dang estuary to establish the hometown of Ha Nam.

The festival is to commemorate the merits of the Creators, who found freshwater sources and gave birth to the current rich Ha Nam island area today. This is also a chance for children to show gratitude to their grandparents and parents...

In addition to the processions of the elderly to the temple, the festival also features many cultural, art and sport activities such as Cheo (traditional opera) and Quan Ho (love duet) singing on the lake in front of the temple, volleyball and football competitions, tug of war, swinging, stick pushing, card game and cock fighting ...

This is one of the largest spring festivals in Quang Yen town to promote the tradition of "drinking water, remembering the source" and arouse the pride of ancestors while practically serving the needs of practicing beliefs and enjoying cultural and spiritual values of local people and visitors from all walks of life.
