Vietnam’s Deputy Prime Minister Trinh Dinh Dung has signed Decision No 702/QĐ-TTg approving the adjustment of the general planning of Ha Long city until 2040 and in vision toward 2050.
Accordingly, the planning includes the administrative boundary of Ha Long city with natural land area of nearly 27,753.9 hectares. The indirect study area of the planning includes neighboring localities, namely Hoanh Bo District, Quang Yen Town and Cam Pha City.
The planning is adjusted to promote the role and position of Ha Long city and Quang Ninh province in regional and global arena, boosting sustainable development, in line with green growth requirements and adapting to the climate change. Ha Long will be developed into a friendly, civilized coastal city; a world-class services and tourism hub with synchronous and modern socio-economic infrastructure while paying attention to preserving values of the world’s natural heritage Ha Long Bay.
Ha Long’s population is predicted to increase to around 570,000 - 600,000 people by 2030.
The city will be developed under the multi-polar model. Accordingly, Cua Luc Bay will be the connecting hub and expand urban along the coast of Ha Long Bay with four main areas:
The Northern urban area attaches with natural eco-system of Cua Luc Bay and the South of Hoanh Bo District.
The Eastern urban area functions as the administrative, commercial and cultural center of the city attached with urban space of Cam Pha City.
The Western urban area plays the role of a tourist, services, industry and port center, heading to the South attached with Ha Long Bay.
The expanded Western area develops into an ecological urban surrounded by sea and islands, focusing on water protection and natural ecosystem conservation with world-class tourist and services centers; regional educational, physical training and sports centers will be built in accordance with the development of urban space.
