"Yen's life" wins grand festival prize at Philippines film festival

The film “Cuoc doi cua Yen” (Yen’s life) directed by Dinh Tuan Vu won the Grand Festival Prize at the World Premieres Film Festival in the Philippines, which is taking place in Manila from June 29th to July 11th.

The film, produced by the Vietnam Feature Film Studio, is about the life of a 10-year-old girl whose marriage was arranged by her parents. She is one year older than her husband. Her life story is associated with the rise and fall of her husband’s family and her husband.

The film is considered a lively diary about the life and destiny of Vietnamese women in the past, their sacrifices and strengths to overcome all difficulties. It honours the virtue of traditional Vietnamese women before 1945.

In 2015, the film won five prizes, the Silver Lotus Award, best actress in a leading role, best music score, best cinematography and best production design, at the 19th Vietnam Film Festival.
