Quang Yen Town is completing plannings to attract more investors in infrastructure construction in smart and modern concept, thus creating spring-board for industry, service and tourism development.
Completing strategic plannings
From 2012-2018, Quang Yen Town focused on developing industrial clusters, urban infrastructure, and trade centers. In November 2016, Quang Ninh People’s Committee approved the Quang Yen Town Planning by 2030 with a vision to 2050. Accordingly, the town will be developed in line with historical and cultural preservation. The urban area in the center of the town will be expanded. Chanh River will be the main axis and focal point to develop smart, modern and eco satellite urban areas.
Basing on Quang Yen’s potential and strength, Quang Ninh developed the proposal on establishment of the Quang Yen Coastal Economic Zone which is currently awaiting the Government’s approval. This economic zone will cover an area of 14,600 ha (12,000 ha in Quang Yen and 2,690 ha in Uong Bi City). It is expected to be an important impetus to boost Quang Yen’s socio-economic development in the future.
Apart from strategic plannings, Quang Yen is completing criteria requirements to be recognized as a Grade 3 urban locality. To date, it has scored 87.73 points that is eligible to submit to the Government for recognition.
Investment attraction and urban space expansion
Quang Yen Town is sandwiched between Ha Long City and Uong Bi City and adjacent to Hai Phong City. In addition, Hai Phong-Ha Long Highway runs through Quang Yen Town, making a good connection between Quang Yen and Hai Phong, Ha Long as well as Van Don, Mong Cai, and Ha Noi.

In addition, a number of tourism, services, and trade development projects include Golf Course in Hoang Tan Commune invested by Happiness Cement Corporation (Taiwan), the Green Ha Long Urban Complex Project by Vingroup. Besides, FLC Group is also considering the investment in developing urban areas in the communes of Tan An, Yen Hai, Tien An, Lien Hoa and Lien Vi.
Notably, at the end of May, Deputy Prime Minister Trinh Dinh Dung has assigned the Ministry of Construction to work with the Ministry of Planning and Investment to instruct Quang Ninh’s authority on how to file dossier for the Green Ha Long Urban Complex Project in Quang Yen Town. The project covers an area of 3,186 ha with a total investment of 165,104 billion VND, including commercial buildings, social housing, education establishments, urban services…
It can be seen that Quang Yen’s urban space is gradually invested with a synchronous technical infrastructure. This lays a firm foundation for the town to turn into a smart and modern coastal urban area in the coming time.
