Quang Ninh seaports sustain growth momentum
By the end of the 3rd quarter of 2025, cargo throughput at Quang Ninh’s seaports has continued on a steady upward trajectory, making a significant contribution to the province’s economic targets and reaffirming its role as a key driver of growth.
According to the Quang Ninh Maritime Administration, cargo volume is projected to rise by nearly 10% compared to the same period in 2024, with around 120,000 vessel calls and over 120 million tons of cargo handled.
Passenger arrivals through seaports are also expected to exceed 100,000, up more than 10% year-on-year.
Major cargo includes imports and strategic goods such as coal, petroleum, machinery, equipment, and agricultural products, supporting both market demand and national energy and food security. Although container volumes remain relatively modest, regular operations continue at CICT Cai Lan Port and several smaller ports.
The cruise tourism sector has also benefited from policies to attract international visitors, including streamlined port procedures, reduced fees for foreign vessels, and new entry points for tourists. Quang Ninh welcomed over 100,000 cruise passengers in the first nine months of 2025.

Behind these results is a strong focus on forecasting, planning, and administrative reform. Authorities have accelerated digital transformation, applying IT solutions for ship clearance, e-receipts, vessel tracking, berth allocation, and pilotage supervision, while ensuring transparency in all procedures.
At the same time, the province has invested in transport infrastructure to strengthen links between industrial zones and seaports, fostering manufacturing growth and ensuring a stable cargo supply.
Quang Ninh’s seaport sector is expected to post further breakthroughs in 2025, not only driving provincial growth but also serving as a catalyst for other industries and consolidating its position as a cornerstone of the local economy.
