Quang Ninh accelerates growth in manufacturing and processing industries
Quang Ninh province has recently paid much attention to the development of high-tech, modern, and environmentally friendly industries, particularly manufacturing and processing.
Transitioning the economy from “brown” to “green” growth has been identified as a long-term, strategic priority. Since the beginning of the 2020-2025 term, Quang Ninh issued Resolution No. 01-NQ/TU (November 16, 2020) on the rapid and sustainable development of the manufacturing and processing sector through 2025, with a vision to 2030. This resolution has created a solid foundation for attracting high-tech, advanced investment projects over recent years.
In August, Quang Ninh inaugurated the Tonly Vietnam Electronics Factory at Dong Mai industrial park. With an investment of over VND 2.1 trillion (or USD 85 million) on a 5-hectare site, the plant has a designed capacity of 19 million products per year, including speakers, headphones, cameras and components, smart devices, and other high-tech electronics. The project not only creates thousands of jobs but also contributes significantly to export revenues, budget revenues, and the overall growth of the local manufacturing sector.
Tonly Vietnam already operates two projects in the province, producing millions of smart electronic devices annually. In 2024, these projects generated USD 620 million in revenue, more than USD 600 million in exports, contributed over VND 88 billion to the state budget, and provided jobs for over 6,000 workers.
At Viet Hung Industrial Park, Thanh Cong Group inaugurated the Thanh Cong Viet Hung automobile plant, the first Skoda factory in Southeast Asia, marking a milestone in Quang Ninh’s manufacturing industry.
As the centerpiece of the Thanh Cong Viet Hung Automotive and Supporting Industries Complex (400 hectares, VND 8.679 trillion investment), the plant was launched in early 2023 and is now operational after more than two years of construction.
Covering 36.5 hectares, it has a designed capacity of 120,000 Skoda vehicles per year. With production managed through an advanced smart data management system, the factory ensures both productivity and international quality standards. So far, over 1,000 vehicles produced here have already entered the market.
Moving forward, the complex will continue to attract additional projects, including battery and engine production, warehouses, R&D facilities, supporting industries, port logistics, and related services.
Thanks to these positive developments, Quang Ninh’s Industrial Production Index (IIP) in August 2025 rose by an estimated 20.47% year-on-year. Over the first eight months, the IIP grew 15.6%, with the manufacturing and processing sector alone expanding 33.9% in August and 32.09% cumulatively. Ten out of fourteen key products have already met or exceeded their nine-month targetsm reaffirming the sector’s role as the driving force of the province’s economy.
The steady rollout of new projects in manufacturing and processing demonstrates Quang Ninh’s well-chosen strategies, transparent investment environment, and proactive support for businesses and investors. These factors not only strengthen investor confidence but also serve as powerful momentum for the province’s industrial growth in the coming years.
