Quang Ninh ready for the 2025 national high school graduation exam
The 2025 National High School Graduation Exam will be held from June 25 to 27. The Quang Ninh Department of Education and Training has recorded 19,930 registered candidates, an increase of 1,966 compared to last year. Comprehensive and well-coordinated preparations are underway, reflecting the province’s determination to ensure a serious, objective, fair, and safe exam.
Students enrolled in the 2018 General Education Program will take four subjects: two compulsory subjects (Literature and Mathematics) and two optional subjects chosen from the Grade 12 curriculum, including Foreign Languages, History, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Geography, Civic and Economic Education, Informatics, and Technology. These students will sit the exam over three sessions: one for Literature, one for Mathematics, and one for the two elective subjects.
Meanwhile, students following the 2006 General Education Program will take the exam in four sessions: Literature, Mathematics, one optional session (either Natural Sciences or Social Sciences), and Foreign Language.
Of the total number of candidates, 19,594 are from the 2018 curriculum, with very high participation rates in Literature (99.84%) and Mathematics (99.83%). Among elective subjects, Geography attracted 10,741 candidates (54.82%), and History had 9,103 (46.46%). There are 336 candidates under the 2006 curriculum.
The province has established one exam council with 40 test sites, three more than in 2024, located at qualified educational institutions to ensure convenience for candidates. A total of 849 exam rooms have been arranged, up 64 from the previous year.
Independent candidates and continuing education learners will take the exam alongside Grade 12 students, ensuring that general education students make up at least 50% of the candidates at each test site.

In order to ensure smooth operations, the Department of Education and Training plans to mobilize approximately 3,500 officials, teachers, and staff to serve as exam invigilators and supervisors. The department has worked closely with the provincial police, the Department of Health, and other relevant departments and local authorities to implement the exam in accordance with Ministry of Education and Training regulations.
Key administrative units, including the Exam Secretariat and the Test Printing Committee, have already been established and are actively fulfilling their responsibilities. Meanwhile, schools and teachers are finalizing review sessions and providing students with guidance on exam techniques to help them feel confident and well-prepared.
Exam regulations and legal requirements have been widely disseminated to prevent misconduct and cheating. Training sessions for invigilators and inspection teams will be conducted before and throughout the exam to strengthen accountability and discipline.
In parallel, all test sites are being reviewed to ensure they are fully equipped with the necessary facilities, tools, and logistics.
Communication and public awareness about the exam will be intensified. Health care and food safety measures will be ensured for all participants.
