Quang Ninh responds to International Day of Yoga 2022
On June 21, nearly 3,000 people joined a mass yoga performance in response to International Day of Yoga 2022 at 30/10 Square in Ha Long city.
Prominent at the event were Indian Ambassador to Vietnam, Pranay Verma, Standing Vice Chairwoman of Provincial People's Council, Vi Ngoc Bich, and Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Thi Hanh.
The event also attracted representatives of the Vietnam Yoga Federation and leaders of relevant departments, branches and localities across the province.
Under the theme "Yoga for humanity", the 8th International Yoga Day aimed to promote the humanity’s community spirit towards a sustainable lifestyle in harmony with our green Earth in the context that the whole world is resuming all operations after a temporary hiatus due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Indian Ambassador to Vietnam, Pranay Verma affirmed that Yoga, a 5,000-year-old traditional practice of ancient India, combined physical, mental and spiritual activities to promote health and wellness and achieve harmony of body and mind.
It is considered a gift that India gives to the world, he said.
“Vietnam has always been an important partner of India in promoting and celebrating the International Yoga Day. The widespread love for Yoga in Vietnam has brought about a strong cultural connection and people-to-people exchange between the two countries. This event held in Quang Ninh has once again introduced the beauty and culture of India as well as the good values of Yoga closer to Vietnam”, added the Ambassador.
Addressing the event, Vice Chairwoman of the Provincial People's Committee, Nguyen Thi Hanh, highlighted the role of the 8th International Yoga Day event 2022 in Quang Ninh in demonstrating the province’s strong economic, cultural and social recovery and development after the Covid-19 pandemic.
In addition to the cultural and health meanings, the 8th International Yoga Day event also significantly contributed to strengthening the relationship between the two countries Vietnam - India, and, at the same time, promoting the beauty of the province’s nature and culture, especially the World Natural Heritage of Ha Long Bay, in particular and Vietnam in general.
Nearly 3,000 people including Yoga trainers, practitioners and tourists who love Yoga in Quang Ninh province, Hai Phong city and Hanoi participated in the performance of Yoga in order to spread the message about a positive and peaceful lifestyle focusing on the balance in mind, contributing to protecting people’s health and the well-being of the whole community.
