Hai Ha - A promising destination for nature-lovers
With its pristine natural beauty and growing range of tourism offerings, Hai Ha district has emerged as a must-visit destination in Quang Ninh province.
Among its standout attractions is Cai Chien island, a hidden gem often described as a “tropical paradise” with golden sunshine, white sand beaches, lush casuarina forests, and crystal-clear waters. Beyond its unspoiled coastline, the island offers immersive cultural experiences and a peaceful local lifestyle that leave a lasting impression on visitors.
In order to mark the beginning of the 2025 summer travel season, the district hosted “Cai Chien Welcomes Summer” Culture and Tourism Week from May 30 to 31. The festival featured an exciting mix of cultural performances, thrilling sports competitions like dragon boat and kayak races, vibrant folk games, and traditional culinary showcases. Thousands of visitors joined in the festive atmosphere, soaking up the charm of island life while enjoying music, nature, and local hospitality.
Hai Ha’s tourism calendar has been vibrant this year with notable cultural events such as the Song Mun festival, which celebrated the newly recognized national intangible cultural heritage: the “Coming-of-Age Ceremony” of the Dao Thanh Y people. Local festivals at historic communal houses have also helped preserve and promote the region’s unique cultural identity.

In just the first five months of 2025, the district welcomed over 110,000 visitors and generated tourism revenue of approximately VND 266 billion, a significant increase over the same period last year. These achievements reflect the district’s strategic focus on infrastructure development and tourism investment.
Hai Ha has laid the foundation for a seamless visitor experience by implemeting a series of programs, from upgrading transport to Cai Chien Island and introducing eco-friendly services like kayaking and electric vehicle tours, to enhancing access to clean water, power, and sanitation. Special attention has also been given to under-discovered areas like Quang Duc and Quang Son, which boast rich cultural and natural resources.
The district is currently developing three core tourism product categories including signature experiences with national appeal (cultural immersion with Dao ethnic communities, mountain-lake eco retreats at Truc Bai Son, and high-end beach escapes on Cai Chien Island), local specialty tours (agricultural eco-tours featuring OCOP and VietGAP-certified products, cultural-spiritual journeys, and festive celebrations in key communes), and exciting add-ons (weekend fun with dragon boat racing, fishing, and camping; adventure tours like trekking, stream-hiking, and waterfall exploration; culinary and shopping experiences in Quang Ha Town; and border tours at Bac Phong Sinh, offering a glimpse of Vietnam’s northern frontier).
Whether you're looking for relaxation, cultural connection, or outdoor thrills, Hai Ha invites you to explore its untouched beauty and authentic charm. This is where adventure meets heritage, and every journey becomes a memory.
