A delegation from Quang Ninh city is taking part in the Vietnam Film Promotion Program at the 39th Tokyo International Film Festival in Japan from October 26 to 30, 2026. The event offers an opportunity to promote Quang Ninh's landscapes and cultural heritage, expand international cooperation and attract Vietnamese and foreign film productions to the city.
The delegation is led by Ms. Nguyen Thi Hanh, Member of the Standing Committee of the Quang Ninh Party Committee and Head of its Commission for Publicity.
During the festival, the delegation is participating in promotional activities at the Vietnam booth, panel discussions, seminars, Vietnam Night and meetings with Japanese and international partners.
Quang Ninh's promotional activities highlight its natural landscapes, cultural and historical heritage, and tourism infrastructure and services that can support film production.
The city is home to two UNESCO World Heritage sites: Ha Long Bay and the Yen Tu-Vinh Nghiem-Con Son, Kiep Bac complex. Its diverse landscapes, from islands and mountains to urban areas, coal mining communities and border regions, offer filming locations suitable for a wide range of productions.
At a panel discussion titled "Developing Vietnam's film ecosystem: From cultural values to economic growth", Quang Ninh plans to present its vision of becoming a modern, multi-setting natural film studio.
The city aims to attract action, fantasy, historical and cultural films, commercial productions, reality television programs and international co-productions.
Quang Ninh also seeks closer cooperation with Japanese filmmakers and film companies in technology transfer, workforce training, visual effects, filming locations and film-related tourism.
The city plans to develop an online map of filming locations to help production teams identify suitable sites, connect with local service providers and arrange filming activities more easily.
Through its participation in the festival, Quang Ninh aims to develop its cultural industries alongside tourism and make film production an effective way to promote its heritage and landscapes.
The event also offers opportunities to attract film projects, expand cultural exchanges and strengthen international cooperation, helping raise Quang Ninh's profile as both a tourism destination and a location for international film productions.
