The Ha Long Sailing Festival 2026 is scheduled to take place from December 15 to 19 in the waters off Tuan Chau Marina in Tuan Chau Ward, Quang Ninh City. The event is expected to be the first international sailing competition held in Ha Long Bay.
The festival is expected to bring together 12 teams and 48 athletes, including five domestic teams and seven international teams from Malaysia, Thailand, Singapore, Japan, South Korea, Taiwan (China) and the Philippines.
Ha Long Bay offers favourable conditions for sailing. Its limestone karsts and coastal areas create sheltered waters suitable for training and competition when weather conditions permit. The bay’s distinctive landscape, recognised as a World Natural Heritage site, also provides an ideal setting for sporting events that promote tourism.
The festival is envisioned as an annual event, providing a platform for domestic and international sailors and sailing clubs to compete and exchange experiences, while helping to promote the sport in Quang Ninh.
Holding the event in December also offers an opportunity to develop sports tourism products during the winter, when domestic travel demand typically declines. The festival is expected to help Quang Ninh diversify tourism activities on the bay, attract more visitors and elevate Ha Long’s profile on the international sporting stage.
