In 2013, Quang Ninh was the first locality in Vietnam to pilot OCOP program. With its success, the program has been expanded nationwide since 2017.
After 7 years of development, one of the most significant achievements of the program is the contribution to changing agricultural producers’ mind in the way of producing agricultural products, from small-scale to commercial production. Quang Ninh OCOP has become a prestigious trademark for consumers. It can be seen that each time an OCOP fair is organized, it lures a large number of visitors and shoppers. OCOP products have been available on supermarkets’ shelves. Their markets have been expanded in the north then nationwide. From 40 OCOP products in the first OCOP fair, the province now has 435 OCOP products, of which 191 are ranked 3-5 stars. The success of OCOP program proves Quang Ninh’s right and effective way in the process of modernizing agricultural sector, thus contributing to restructuring agriculture and rural area.
