Welcoming the delegation, Vice Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Hanh extended her heartfelt greetings and shared an overview of Quang Ninh’s development journey, its strategic advantages, and recent accomplishments.

She expressed hope for stronger ties between Quang Ninh and Cuban localities in key areas such as delegation exchanges, trade and investment cooperation, and mutual support in sectors where both sides hold strengths.

Highlighting the enduring and profound friendship between Vietnam and Cuba, she proposed several initiatives to strengthen bilateral cooperation, including offering scholarships for Cuban students to study at Ha Long University, promoting Cuban destinations in Quang Ninh, encouraging local tourism businesses to explore travel routes to Cuba, and sharing Quang Ninh’s experience in areas like tourism, healthcare, and high-tech agriculture.

On behalf of Quang Ninh provincial leaders, Vice Chairwoman of the Provincial People’s Committee, Nguyen Thi Hanh, presented a souvenir to Chargé d’affaires of the Cuban Embassy in Vietnam, Joy Puentes Saldise, and the Cuban delegation.

Chargé d’affaires of the Cuban Embassy in Vietnam, Joy Puentes Saldise, thanked the province for its gracious hospitality and expressed his delight in visiting Quang Ninh and the iconic Ha Long Bay.

In oder to further deepen the friendship between the two countries, he said the Cuban Embassy would propose a sister locality in Cuba with similar characteristics to Quang Ninh to establish a comprehensive partnership.

He also emphasized the potential for collaboration in tourism, culture, healthcare, biotechnology, and sustainable agriculture.

The Cuban diplomat extended a formal invitation for Quang Ninh’s leaders to visit Cuba. He proposed establishing a Vietnam-Cuba Friendship Association in Quang Ninh and organizing a business forum to help enterprises from both sides explore opportunities and build mutually beneficial partnerships.

These efforts, he noted, would contribute to fostering a deeper, more practical, and long-lasting friendship between Vietnam and Cuba, and between Quang Ninh and Cuban localities.
